Ubuntu 8.10 with Compiz Fusion on a Presario V5000
Well, I have a previous post with many steps. But after installing a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.10 I was able to skip all that and do just one simple step for Compiz Fusion. Well, maybe two steps:
Step 1. Click System > Administration > Hardware Drivers, and enable “ATI accelerated graphics driver”. Let is install what you need, and reboot when it says to. Then upon reboot:
Step 2. Use this command in the terminal:
sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager gnome-art usplash startupmanager
And reboot again, and your set! You can now go to System > Preferances > Advanced Desktop Effects Settings, and set Compiz Fusion how you would like. You can follow the tuturial I used in the previous guide for this, Forlong’s Compiz Fusion Customization Guide.
