Summed up in one word, GREAT! Compaired to working with food…which is what I have done with my other jobs, selling computer (and accessories) is awesome. Just like any job, there is the hassel of training, learning now rules, and all that jazz. But personally, Best Buy is the kind of job I have wanted since I started looking for jobs. First of all there is the fact that I get to use all of the knowlege I have gained and such from hunting for my own use, looking for parts and such, to help others. I talk to several people a day that know next to nothing about computers, except whats on sale, and what they want. I get to help these people find the right machine for what they do, what they need, and everything.

All and all, I am happy. Now to save up, and wait to start at SVSU in August!

My Touch Pro

Home Screen

Well, it has been almost a month, and I think I am finally satisfied with it. Here is a quick screen shot, and what I am running!

As you can see, it really does not look like the stock Touch Pro. I am running MightRom 4.16 with several CAB’s to make it just how I want. Here is a quick little list of what I am running:

- Action Screen (The left soft button)

- Personalizer (Lets me change the carrier name)

- Added Percentage to Battery Indecator

- Clear Clock

- MightyMike & LilRico skins (red)

- Slide2Unlock2

And then a bunch of good apps, such as Sprite for backup, Pocket Player and Coreplayer for music/videos, and Mobipocket for reading.

My Life

I am currently sitting on my bed, bored with myself, and figured I would type this out. Who knows, maybe someone will read it?

Montrose, MI

Currently, at least till the end of this month, I reside in Montrose, MI. A small town, much smaller then Hemlock, where I spend the last, oh, 7 years of my life. To be honest, in my opinion, this town has absolutely nothing going for it. I work at McDonald’s (only for another 2 weeks, yay) so get to see a lot of the people in the town drive by and such. Eighty percent of the men come in dirty, with hands covered in stuff. And about sixty percent of the women have a weird smell. Like a mixture of cigarette smoke and freshly mixed dirt.

Do not get me wrong, there are a few lookers in the bunch…but nothing I would leave my woman for.

Now, aside from the townsfolk, there is the town life. I hear about a lot of stuff from people at work, but most of the parties and such take place far from Montrose. Not worth the effort in my opinion. I rather, and do, drive to Saginaw and visit my friends there for that kind of stuff. I found out today there is a bowling ally in town (Montrose). Did not know this…and I have been living here for about 5 months.

Ok, now to another section of the current life, the future. Starting March first I will be living with my Grandmother. Some people would say that doesn’t sound like a improvement. I mean, going from living alone basically, without rules, and then moving in with your grandparents. Look at in my perspective. I am currently paying Near $300-350 a month in bills alone for living. That doesn’t include my cell or food. Just rent, elec, gas, and water. When I move, I will get this, cable, Internet, and home phone (I will still be using my cell 99% of the time) all for About $100 a month. And thats if I can convince my Grandmother to take the money…Knowing her, even tho we agreed on my giving her something, she prob will tell me to keep is…Haha…I love her.

Anyways, so I will be moving to Saginaw, or more specifically Buena Vista. The place the house is located isn’t a bad section, but the area’s all around such ass. Shootings, robberies, gangs, and such. Not my choice of a town life. I will be ok tho, since I plan on spending most of my time out of the house, either working, school, or with friends.
And as a final note. My Feiro is now running. My Uncle managed to get me a deal on the tranny installation. Now we (he) just need to give it a run over. You know, brakes, fluids, and such. Figure in a week I will be driving it And trying to sell it. Going to try and get rid of it, and get something newer, maybe more dependable.

Goodbye Instinct, Hello Touch Pro

As of 2/11/09 I am now the proud new owner of the HTC Touch Pro. Only catch…I am still waiting for it. I bought a used one off of Ebay. Got the bugger for $325. Pretty nice, since I plan on selling my Samsung Instinct for around $200.

So, sooner or later (depending on the speed of the U.S.P.S I will be posting my initial review of the Pro, and what software I am installing and such.

Samsung Instinct MR4 Update

Great news everyone, Sprint has finally released this update, here is the lowdown:

Version: BK14
Delivery: OTA
Release Date: 11/19 (BOTH client & network initiated)

Notes: Instinct firmware BK14 includes the resolution of 189 tickets open since the previous public firmware release, BH29, including:

5442 - links fail on smoking gun website
5872 - VVM Client is not able to make Data connection
5886 - Ebay login fails in standard mode browser
6015 - Voice notification speaks wrong contact name
6016 - Device UI locks when FUMO push is being received
6025 - Initial Mobile Sync can cause device to slow down until initial sync completes
6036 - bestbuy.com soft-resets device
6039 - deleting ringers can soft-reset device

The release also provides the foundation for the first public release of the updated Sprint Mobile Email Work Calendar. The new work calendar, available OTA 12/4, syncs with one or more Exchange (OWA) based calendars, and allows for meeting creation, editing and alerting on the go.

Also included in MR4:
* Java refit to better enable 4-way/OK and text input to LCDUI widget-based applications
* support for native document viewing for many popular office document types including .doc, .pdf, .ppt, .xls and others (requires Sprint Mobile Email Work upgrade expected 12/4)

Individual application upgrades for the MR4 period are expected to go live the week of 11/21, with Sprint Mobile Email Work Calendar scheduled for early December (all dates are estimates and are subject to change with no notice). Exact go-live dates depend on application vendor.
